The Locals, Canggu, and Sourdough
2019,
It's been a tired ride. From just a person who loves this little bakery in Canggu. I contacted my boss through facebook and that's how i start and end all of this in one year.
Moving to Bali is like a dream for me. From a girl who wants to escape from the crowded city and become an island girl, working from morning to late afternoon and chilling at the beach when i am off. I am agree with my boss that stated Canggu is a melting pot, people from many cultures, art, minds are gathered in here. Not for being so mean, but this particular area being isolated from the J-town people. In here, you can get a good australian style breakfast, being angry in shortcut traffic, get some tattoo from local artist, and catching the sunset in Nelayan beach (my favorite and the bakers, batu bolong was too crowded for me), being sane in the backroom in the evening.
I couldn't live in Canggu if its not because of the power of the starter. I got some things if i ate white breads then I found this old bread that using naturally leavened and it's healthy. I start my life in here in the office side of this bakery, but, situations are changed, I also learnt about the breadmaking that makes me even fall in love with the bread. Believe me, i really want the J-town people like this bread and eat this rather than some white breads bakery that using instant yeast and put so much sugar in their dough.
Well, once again, thanks, Canggu.
My food recommendations in Bali:
- Mason restaurant
- The Slow
- Crate cafe
- Shady shack
- Fabricca
- Warung jawa bu sri
- Bottega Berawa
- Nasi ayam liku (Nakula, Seminyak)
- Wei wei xin (Sesetan, Denpasar)
